What better way to kick off the fall season than with September Fest at the Oklahoma Governor’s Mansion?
I emceed the Miss Tulsa State Fair pageant and spent the day at the fair. I had the first official jumbo corndog at the fair as well a little time for a photo opp with my beautiful calf, May and my Jersey Cow, Wendy!
Fall is here…which means school visits have started, and I need a flu shot! π
My first official day in the schools was a busy one, I spoke at Lomega Elementary and High School, Okeene Elementary and Canton Elementary. . I absolutely loved it! My program is called “The Road to Success.” It’s a fun interactive assembly that addresses setting goals, self- respect and making good decisions (including healthy eating and the importance of dairy in their diet as well as drug and alcohol awareness and prevention.) I am lucky to be working with Susan Allen of Dairy Max so my first day was the kick off for the Fuel Up to Play 60 program!
One of the highlights of my Miss Oklahoma Experience was getting to go back to Oklahoma State University for the season opener football game. OSU booked me to sign autographs at the College of Education Tailgate, be a part of the pep rally….and be introduced on field at the football game! Dream come true!!!!
I had an amazing time in Orlando watching our beautiful Clytee Burchett represent Oklahoma in the national pageant. She is such a beautiful girl inside and out and I’m so thankful that I’ve been given the opportunity to share the year with her.
All of the Miss America contestants met in Orlando! We had dinner parties, went to the pageant together and even made a trip to Disney World!! It was my FIRST time EVER to Disney World! I absolutely loved it! This has been an amazing week and I’ve made some incredible friends. I’m so thankful to have had this opportunity!
This week Kay and I went down to Texas to watch the Miss Texas pageant. What a fun few days! It’s so much more relaxing to watch a pageant and not have to stress about competing. π I met Miss Louisiana, Hope Anderson; Miss New Mexico, Sarina Turnbull; and Miss Wyoming, Catherine Brown. Such sweet girls!
While we were in Dallas, we went shopping at Nordstroms….what girl doesn’t want to shop in that store?! I LOVED it! Now I am ready for my school visits in the fall.
Saturday was the final night of Miss Texas, they crowned a beautiful young lady named Kendall Morris. I look forward to meeting her!
The moment I was crowned Miss Oklahoma 2011 on June 11, my life was instantly changed. After sharing the excitement with my family and close friends that evening I spoke at the Miss Oklahoma Awards Breakfast. This was the first time that I addressed a large group as Miss Oklahoma.
The very next morning I was up for my very first press conference and immediately after I moved into the new Miss Oklahoma apartment! It’s going to take quite a while for this to sink in! Bright and early (5:30am) on Monday, I was off to the local news stations for interviews. I love this job!!!
This week I found out where the tanning salon, car wash, cleaners, gym, and nail salon are! I’m so lucky that Miss Oklahoma has such amazing sponsors! π
